An Easter Message from Dr. Barry Ward
To the Pastors and Churches of the Yazoo County Baptist Association
Dear Pastors and Church Family,
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Risen Lord!
As we walk through the sacred journey of Holy Week and prepare to celebrate the joy of Easter Sunday, I want to pause and thank each of you—pastors, staff, volunteers, and church members—for your faithful service in the name of Jesus. This season reminds us of the heart of our faith: that Jesus Christ willingly suffered, died, and rose again to offer salvation, hope, and new life to all who believe.
Holy Week is a time of deep reflection, but it is also a call to action. In the quiet of Maundy Thursday, the agony of Good Friday, and the silence of Saturday, we are reminded that God often works in the waiting, in the darkness, and in the moments when hope feels distant. And then—glorious resurrection! The stone was rolled away, and death was defeated. That same power now lives in us.
As churches across Yazoo County gather to worship and remember, may we also renew our commitment to share this good news with our communities. There are many in our towns and neighborhoods who need to hear that the grave is not the end—that there is life, joy, and purpose in Jesus.
I encourage each of you to open your hearts, your homes, and your churches during this season. Invite someone in. Encourage someone who has drifted away. Pray for those who are hurting. And rejoice, because Christ is alive!
May the resurrection of Jesus stir within you a renewed spirit of faith, hope, and love. From the tomb to triumph, from curtain to open gate—He is risen indeed!
With love and prayers,
Dr. Barry Ward
